Light comes up CS, CHILD Stands faceing the audience, looking almost as
though lost in a happy thought.
Sighs
"OH the old times… I miss them. (Looks directly at audience
almost as if snapped out of his/her trance) You know those memories that are
really REALLY happy? Well I just remembered one. It was such a lovely memory.
Bright sunny summer, California air blowing through the car (Sighs again) oh
that was a great day. That was the day I moved to a new state, to live with my
mom. Now I had stayed at my mom’s place PLENTY of times, and I really loved it.
I’ve never felt more at home than when I was at her house. So I was all excited
and happy, I finally get to be with her. (Face becomes noticeably forlorn sighs
again) That was so long ago now… a year. (Looks back at audience) I know what
you’re probably thinking, “Oh, a year, that’s not so long” but it is. It was so
long ago, because here I am now. Getting ready to move out and go live with my
boyfriend/girlfriend, ready to take a new step in my life. Picks up suitcase
and looks straight ahead almost as if looking at someone he/she knows in the
audience) Thank you mom. I love you for being the best person in the world, for
helping through life. For helping move in with the person I love. I want you to
remember. I love you Mom, and I will always love you.
